Nuclear Science

We are using the principles of nuclear physics and nuclear science for non-power applications that benefit humankind.

Researchers in nuclear science focus on the production of radioisotopes, radiochemistry for the nuclear fuel cycle, and nuclear imaging for industrial and medical applications. Penn State’s Radiation Science and Engineering Center, which houses the Breazeale Nuclear Reactor, gives students and faculty a unique opportunity to conduct research on the interaction of materials and devices with nuclear radiation.
