Adi Shivprasad - Materials for Nuclear Power Group

Adi Shivprasad graduated with a PhD in Nuclear Engineering. He graduated with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2011 and began his graduate studies at Penn State in the fall of 2011. His research was concerned with the role of alloying elements of zirconium-based alloys in the absorption of hydrogen during corrosion, a process that is exacerbated by irradiation. The chemical states of alloying elements are examined using synchrotron radiation at the Advanced Photon Source to perform x-ray absorption near-edge spectroscopy (XANES).

Adi was born in Canada, but grew up in Orlando, FL and Newark, DE. In his spare time, he practices Indian classical music and has given performances in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Virginia, Ohio, and Michigan. Outside of music, Adi enjoys chess, videogames, and reading.
