Katheren R. B. Nantes joined PSU in 2021 as a graduate student to pursue her Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering. She received B.S in Nuclear Engineering from Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her research focuses on using multiphysics material simulations on MOOSE/BISON code to estimate low temperature cladding failure during an RIA transient for near-term Accident Tolerant Fuel concepts, including coated cladding, high burnup fuel and higher enrichment pellets.
