Mahmut Nedim Cinbiz - Materials for Nuclear Power Group

M. Nedim Cinbiz graduated with his PhD in Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering in 2015 and now works at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Prior to joining the Materials for Nuclear Power Group at Penn State he graduated with a B.S. and M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from the Hacettepe University in Turkey.

His research focused on zirconium hydride reorientation and its effects on the fracture behavior under drying conditions of spent fuel nuclear cladding. He performed thermo mechanical treatments on Zircaloy-4, a zirconium alloy, to understand the effect of stress biaxiality on hydride dissolution and precipitation. He also performed in situ X-ray diffraction tests using synchrotron radiation at the Advance Photon Source at the Argonne National Laboratory on irradiated and non-irradiated cladding material.
