Semi-annual meeting on High Fidelity Ion Beam Simulation of High Dose Neutron Irradiation held at PSU

Presentation of Progress and Discuss Future Goals

The 3rd semi-annual Integrated Research Project (IRP) meeting on High Fidelity Ion Beam Simulation of High Dose Neutron Irradiation was held at PSU on June 15-17, 2015 hosted by Dr. Arthur Motta, Chair and Professor of Nuclear Engineering at Penn State. The main objective of the IRP project, an award granted by the U.S. Department of Energy, is to demonstrate the capability to predict the evolution of microstructure and properties of structural materials in-reactor and at high doses, using ion irradiation as a surrogate for reactor irradiations. Many researchers from different institutions in the US, Canada, France and Great Britain attended the workshop. The meeting was opened with a speech by Dr. Motta and Dr. Gary Was from the University of Michigan. The issues discussed in the previous meetings were summarized and the new experimental results since then were presented as well as a detailed discussion on the future goals of the project.
