Research in Responsive Origami Design Methods Granted $2M by National Science FoundationAugust 22, 2012
A $2 million grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) has been awarded to principal investigator (PI) Mary Frecker, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, to develop methods to design active origami structures to be used for applications in minimally invasive surgery, adaptive aircraft structures, reconfigurable robots and deployable space structures.

On July 24-25, more than twenty Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) undergraduate engineering students visited the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering as part of a two week trip to various universities and industry partners in the United States.
