Corporate Relations - Overview

There are many opportunities available for corporations and industry to partner with Penn State, the College of Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering.  Below are a few of the ways that corporations can interact with Penn State to exchange ideas and information or to help strengthen programs.

Industry and Professional Advisory Council (IPAC) (2012 IPAC committee members)

Each College of Engineering department has their own Industrial and Professional Advisory Council (IPAC) which is made up of representatives from industry, government agencies, academia and the profession. They help advise the various departments and the College of Engineering on academic issues and on current trends and future directions in engineering. IPAC is a forum where ideas are exchanged and recommendations are made and provides a direct link between the College and the engineering profession. If you are interested in becoming a member of the Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering IPAC, contact: Dr. Karen Thole, Department Head, phone 814-865-2519 or by email at KThole@psu.edu.

Nuclear Power Advisory Board (NPAB)

The Nuclear Power Advisory Board (NPAB) was formed in 2009 to provide an open and direct line of communication between Penn State and the nuclear power industry and government agencies. The NPAB aims to help identify educational and research needs for the nuclear power industry and provide recommendations on initiatives that Penn State should undertake to meet the needs of the world in meeting our energy demands through nuclear power. The NPAB is made up of a select group of professionals representing the nuclear power industry and related government agencies. If you are interested in becoming a member of the NPAB, please contact Dr. Karen Thole, Department Head, by email at KThole@psu.edu, and Dr. Arthur Motta, Chair of Nuclear Engineering, by email at ATM2@psu.edu.
